We are fast approaching our largest project ever, The Centennial Project, which will cost $200,000 and take 3,000 man hours to construct. Most of the money has been pledged, but there are still many pavers to sell for the Walk of Honor. Also the change in schedule to May 31 thru June 5 has caused us to redo a lot of voluntary worker signup. Tami Jo Dotson from the morning Rotary Club is working very hard on signups. Thanks should go to two of our members for joining her committee - Ken Nash and Mary Jo McNamara. Some of the other members of our club that are working on the committees Richard Brown, Len Dalberg, Ed Andrisek, Ken Johnson, Ron Rutter, and John Rasmussen. This project should be a big success because of all the effort that our three Rotary Clubs are doing. There is another important date to remember coming very soon, that is May 12, the day we have our Rotary's Golf Tournament to raise money for school scholarships for our valley. We would like everybody to take part in one way or another. You can play, be a sponsor, or be a helper on that day. Your Golf Committee - made up of Bob Moir, Butch Phillips, Ed Andrisek, Joe Dugan, Bob Jurgensen, and myself have been working to make the tournament a success. I would also like to thank John Rasmussen for setting up our radio announcements for the tournament. Just 33 days remain until construction begins on June 1. Sign up now and recruit your neighbors and friends. Businesses, churches, clubs, and schools are all involved in recruiting workers. Women, youth, and men are all welcome. When our neighbor's barn burned you should have seen the response when the barn was re-built. This will be as exciting as an old fashioned barn raising! For information and sign up sheets, contact Tami Jo Dotson at Stewart Title at 686-2020. Dr. Frank Pedersen has returned to his Solvang Home after being hospitalized and in rehabilitation for several weeks. He was badly injured in a fall. On May 4, Bill Cirone will come speak at our next meeting. Bill is beginning his sixth four-year term (served 21 years) as the Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools making him the longest serving county superintendent in California. He will be giving us an update on our county schools.
