Our club needs to support the Rotary District 5240, South Africa's GSE Team visit on Saturday, October 2. We need to have at least four or five couples attend the dinner and social being held at Mission Oaks Clubhouse & Pool in Solvang. I found out after attending the District 5240 Group 9 Meeting this month, that we are the only club in our District that has less members now then on July 1. We have formed a Membership Committee made up of Sharon Pike, Michele Fairbanks, and Ed Andrisek to try and get more guest and more members. But we all know people who would be good members and we should invite them to our meetings. Don't forget that September 29th will be our 5th Wednesday meeting and they will not be our normal afternoon meeting. Instead we will be having dinner at Firestone Walker. There will be cocktails at 6pm (no-host bar) and then dinner will be at 7pm. The cost is $37 per person which includes tax and gratuity. Mark your calendars for December 15th. This is the planned date for our Club's Christmas Party, which will be held at Alisal Ranch. Just a reminder that you can still join your fellow Rotarians for entertainment, fellowship, wining, and dining on the 2004 Conference Cruise for District 5240. The conference will start off at the Shearton in San Pedro on Friday, October 22, and then move onboard the Royal Caribbean "Monarch of the Seas" ship to Ensenada, Mexico. There will also be a stop to include a joint humanitarian project with our sister district in Ensenada, District 4100. The ship will return to San Pedro on Monday, October 25. HOMER SIMPSON There was free beer on the other side of the road. MARTHA STEWART No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information. BILL GATES I have just released eChicken 2003, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook - and Internet Explorer is an inextricable part of eChicken.
