King Richard Says

KING RICHARD SAYS we owe John Grelck a debt for taking over so admirably for John Patterson on short notice. He is doing a great job of getting the COGWHEEL out every two weeks. Has it been two weeks already? Thanks John.

Don't miss the meeting on the 2nd of June when the PCPA brings us a review of their new summer season hits. It will be for all three clubs and is always a delight. And, while I'm at it, be sure to mark your calendars for the 23d which King Richard has declared a command performance of the Round Table (the finale) and is mandatory! Also the next week is the demotion party and you sure don't want to miss that! So, circle the 30th also.

Patty Murphy is taking sign ups to work the Santa Ynez Day booth and Bob Moir for the 4th of July fireworks. Busy days for our last hurrah. Be sure to sign up and join in the fun.

Rotary Centennial Stamp

U.S. Senators, Russell Feingold of Wisconsin and Richard Lugar of Indiana have introduced legislation urging the U.S. Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp in honor of Rotary's 100th birthday. A similar resolution has been introduced in the House of Representatives by California Representative Brad Sherman.

Send An E-Card

Rotarians can spread the excitement of Rotary's Centennial by sending an electronic greeting card. Visit the "Send an E-Card" page on the Rotary Centennial website.

New Credit Card Scam Warning

If you did not get the email form Kris Kersten this week about the new credit card scam going on, I thought I'd give a brief synopsis of this new scam.

A person claims to be calling from the Security and Fraud Department of either VISA or MasterCard and tells you that there has been some unusual activity on your card. They sound all authentic and basically go through a number of questions and eventually ask to verify that you are in possession of the card. They want to so-call "verify" the seven numbers on the back of the card. The first four numbers are your card number and the last three are the "Security Number" that verify you are in possession of the card. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE LAST THREE NUMBERS because that is what the scammer wants and needs to make Internet purchases. If you come across one of these calls, just hang up!

Thanks again Kris for informing all of us of this new scam.
