King Richard Says

KING RICHARD SAYS I want to congratulate Nelson Owens and our club for a great golf tournament for which, it is estimated, will return about $5,000.00 to the SYValley youth fund. The club was also very generous in bidding at the auction on Wednesday for several "left over" items. I estimate that brought in about $700.00! (That includes the $100.00 that Bob Moir paid for the return of his USC cap).

Nelson will be heading to Japan for the IR conference in the next few days. We wish you a great trip and I, for one, know it will be. There is nothing in Rotary like the International Convention.

The Round Table met yesterday and will anoint two new members at our next meeting. One has petitioned for membership which has never been done before.

Remember the Third Thursday Social will be on May 20 - Next Week!

Celebrate Rotary

The Chicago Centennial Convention will begin Saturday, June 18, 2005 and continue through Wednesday, June 22. There will be a Rotary Centennial parade on Saturday. What better place to celebrate our Centennial than in Chicago, the birthplace of Rotary?

Rotary International Convention 2004

President-Elect Nelson Owens and Sandi will be in Osaka, Japan May 23 - 26, attending the 95th Rotary International Convention. Our first R.I. president from Africa, Jonathan Majiyagbe, will preside, assisted by many others.

R.I. President -Elect Glenn Esters Sr. of Shades Valley, Alabama will accept the mantle of leadership for R.I.'s Centennial year.

The previous Rotary Convention in Tokyo, Japan set the attendance record for our conventions. Undoubtedly, this one will be well attended also.
