King Richard Says

I just returned from the High School and from driving one student to the Airport Fire Dep. for JOB SHADOW. It was a bit disappointing that more Students did not show. Don't know what happened but we had enough drivers from our gracious membership. I'm told that next year the school won't have enough money to conduct this very important event. We, the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary should plan on taking it over.

Last night was the Third Thursday Social at the RSI and hopefully we will have another good turnout. It is a fun time and you get to talk with people you might not otherwise see at the regular meetings.

There is still time to sign up for the May 1st District Assembly in Oxnard. All the new (2004-2005) officers should attend. This is the most important meeting of the new Rotary year and provides Motivation, Information and Training for incoming Club Officers. Rookies can also learn a lot in a short time.

Welcome to our new members, Bob Hinnrichs and Penny Halverson. And to our two new Round Table members, Verva Enoch, "Knightess of Integers" and John Rasmussen, the "Good Knight".

Centennial Book

"A Century of Service: The Story of Rotary International", Rotary's Centennial publication is now available. You can order it on the internet site. The cost is only $25.00. The Leather Bound Volume is $100.00

District Assembly

District 5240 will hold its Annual Assembly on Saturday, May 1, at Oxnard Community College in Oxnard. Newly chosen officers for 2004-2005 should attend. There will be classes for presidents-elect, secretaries, treasurers, committee chairs, etc. Check with president-elect, Nelson Owens, to share rides.

Basic PRLS

Basic PRLS will be offered at Oxnard Community College on Friday, April 30. This is a wonderful opportunity for training in leadership skills.

The Archives Speak

What Rotarian was most influential in organizing our S.Y.V. Rotary Club?
What humorous events have happened at past Rotary meetings?
Who was the first woman Rotarian to join our club?

These and other questions will be answered at Rotary on Wednesday, April 28, on the 45th Anniversary of the presentation of our charter. Look for surprises too! THE ARCHIVES WILL SPEAK!
