King Richard Says

Our Socials, organized by our Knightess of Merriment and Frolic are going nicely. They are a lot of fun and an excellent way to visit with people you don't normally meet with at club meetings. Every Third Thursday - see you there

Also, it appears that all six of the Pot Luck dinners are organized and underway. They will be on the 26th of March, a Friday, and will take the place of the 5th Wednesday meeting on the 31st. So there will be no meeting on the 31st.

The Centennial project committee is hard at work and the project progressing nicely. Len Dalberg was both pleased that the kids were so enthusiastic at Design day but disappointed that we didn't have more parents, and club members, at the reception following. Jeff Cotter presented his plans for fundraising to the committee and they were well thought out and stimulating. He will, along with Herb Bundgen, do an outstanding job, I have no doubt.

New Member

Charlie Stouffer, sponsored by Ed Kushner, joined our club on March 3rd. His classification is marketing/communication consultant. Charlie was General Manager of KCOY television until a few years ago.

Our new Rotarian is married to Cheryl, has a son Chase who is a senior at SYV high School and a daughter Caiti who is a freshman at SYV High.

Rotary International Convention

The 2004 convention of Rotary International will be held in Osaka Japan May 23-26. Attending from our club will be Nelson Owens our president elect.

Forty thousand Rotarians attended the previous convention held in Tokyo in 1978. Every Rotarian should try to attend a convention and meet Rotarians from all over our world.

    1. June 18-22 2005, Chicago Ill.
    2. June 11-14 2006, Copenhagen Denmark and Malmo Sweden

Rotary Postage Stamp

US Congressman, Brad Sherman has introduced a resolution urging the US Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp in honor of Rotary's centennial and Rotary's efforts to eliminate polio worldwide.

5th Wednesday

A third reminder that you should be signed up for a potluck on our 5th Wednesday which of course is Friday. If somehow you have missed all the activity and are not signed up be sure and call the King or David Wyatt.

Growing Older

    1. Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
    2. The older we get the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
    3. Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
    4. When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of algebra.
    5. You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.
    6. I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.
    7. One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being
    young.
    8. One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.
    9. Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
    10. If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

Thanks to Will Rogers
