PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

If you've missed any meetings lately, you're missing some good
speakers. Our own district governor, Marc Vertin, gave a great testimonial
program. I've enjoyed Marc all year, and his attitude towards Rotary. His
email address is ILOVEROTARY, imagine that. Kay Kuns was also an excellent
speaker on her travels to Cuba, I maybe repeating myself, and Jeff Scobba did
an excellent job on describing the CHP challenges; focusing on his personal
responsibilities and how current events are effecting the CHP programs.
Jeff's prepared speech was relatively short. The Q&A period filled the
remaining time. Remember that you're generally safe if you do not exceed 70
mph on the freeway. However, if you are south of Thousand Oaks you'll get
run over.

Dick Brown will get his last practice session in running a Rotary
meeting, and I appreciate him taking my place on the 26th. I should be in
town the entire last quarter of my presidency, imagine that. At least I
trained Dick well.

Finally, I stated in the last Cogwheel that the 5th Wednesday would be
held at my house. My wife is very pleased to report that John Rasmussen
overrode that decision and we'll be having it at the Has Christian Andersen
Park. "We Can Do It" and "Sew those Seeds"

CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE REPORT

The Centennial Committee is recommending to the Boards of our 3 local Rotary
clubs that the centennial project be the purchase and installation of
children's playground equipment at the new Triangle Park in Solvang.

Just a Thought
Everything has beauty but not everyone sees it.
