See every one in January 2003! Six months have passed since our club decided to put the Cogwheel on our web page and to mail issues only to those who prefer to receive them in that manner. Len Dalberg, who for 10 years has prepared the Cogwheel for mailing, now mails only 25 copies. Two thirds of our members read the Cogwheel on our web page, saving our club a substantial sum of money. Our webmaster, Fred Krug, faithfully posts each issue. Let's give a big Rotary commendation to our editor, Tohnia Fields. She edits each issue, e-mails a copy to Fred Krug and prints 27 copies for Len Dalberg to mail and file. An e-mail reminder is also sent to the members who read the web page so they don't for get. Tohnia recieves a column from President Butch for each issue and also welcomes input from others. Vicki Morehouse, the new administrator of the Solvang Lutheran Home has been proposed for membership. Her sponsors are Len Dalberg, Gary Wiseman and Suzanne Hollrah. Her classification will be Retirement Home administrator. I'll be in Europe visiting my son and traveling with my family and celebrating New Years in Barcelona, Spain. Happy New Years, to All and Your Families. Sow those seeds, It can be done. The SYV Rotary Club Officers for 7/1/2003 - 6/30/2004 are as follows: Vice President Nelson Owens Past President Butch Phillips Secretary Deepa Willingham Treasurer Wim Ilmanen Chairpersons of standing committees and directors of other services will be chosen later. On February 23, 1905, Paul Harris and three friends gathered in the office of engineer Gus Loehr 711 Dearborn St. in Chicago, Ill. This meeting is recognized as the first for Rotary. In recognition of that event each club has been asked to assume a special community service project. Our club has decided to work together with the Solvang Breakfast and Los Olivos Clubs on this centennial project. Len Dalberg and President Elect Nominee Nelson Owens have consented to lead our participation. God Bless in the New Year! |
