PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS

Forty members of the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary Club are Paul Harris Fellows. All are asked to wear their medallions and pins at our meeting on November 13 at 12:10pm. Our speaker is P.D.G. Brenda Cressy, a member of the Paso Robles Sunrise Club.
At our meeting one member will be awarded the Paul Harris Fellow recognition medal. Our Paul Harris Fellows Committee Chairman, Greg Pensa, will encourage us to become Paul Harris Fellows.
Our present District 5240 Governor, Marc Vertin has challenged us to raise even more dollars to complete the goal of eliminating polio from our world by 2005. Hopefully this will become the final appeal.
Please consider giving $100.00 to Polio Plus. Make the check to the S.Y.V. Rotary Foundation. After the reception of five gifts or $500.00 a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Award can be awarded to a worthy Rotarian in our club. Monies will be matched by funds already given. The Past Presidents serving on the Paul Harris Fellows Committee will choose the recipients.

PAUL HARRIS, FOUNDER OF ROTARY

Paul Harris, a lawyer, was the founder of Rotary. In 1905 he and three clients formed the first club in Chicago. He called the club "Rotary" because the members met in rotation in various places of business. This first club brought business and professional men together for the purpose of friendship and fellowship.
This first club was the foundation for what is the world's oldest and most international service club. Today, Rotary is an organization of business and professional men and women united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world.

STILL LOOKING FOR SEWING MACHINES

Kris Kersten is looking for sewing machines to send to Rick Zander in the Philippines. They will be used in the school to teach the students to sew. If you have one please bring to Rotary with you and Kris will be happy to take it off your hands.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Thank you to John Rasmussen for arranging our 5th Wednesday Meeting held October 30 at The Alisal Ranch Golf Course. Fifty guests enjoyed their choice of Top Sirloin or Salmon with Crème Bruler for desert.
John was also chosen as Rotarian of the day for all his efforts in arranging the dinner and led the flag salute. Len Dalberg once again blessed us with the invocation. Thanks also to Dick Brown for conducting the meeting in my absence.
To say the least it was "A GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL"! It was announced that the nomination committee has chosen Nelson Owens as our President Elect for 2003-2004.

"FRIENDS" WHAT ELEANOR ROOSEVELT WROTE:

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart. Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it is his fault; If he betrays you twice, it is your fault. Great minds discuss events; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people. He, who loses money, loses much; He, who loses a friend, losses much more; He, who loses faith, loses all. Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art. Learn from the mistakes of others, you can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Friends, you and me…You brought another friend…And then there were 3…
We started our group… Our circle of friends…And like a circle…There is no beginning or end…
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.
"BRING A FRIEND"
