Having a shower of sincere and beautiful notes is like having spring flowers. It has been a wonderful display of love and friendship. Kay and I are extremely pleased to hear from so many dear, dear friends, some of whom we seem to have lost track of over the last 3 months while we have been away. Thank you for your expressions of love and concern. When you are on your bottom as long as I have been this spring and summer, it is good to know that some of the world is working right. Kay and I are very grateful for your kind remembrance. We are talking every day about coming home and we are looking forward to being with you and other friends just as soon as possible. With best regards, Ed Hergenrather Lets all keep Ed in our Thoughts and Prayers and if any one would like to send a card please contact Dick Brown for his address. Those who saw the documentary film made by two French brothers about the terrorists' attack on the towers of the World Trade Center will no doubt recall the scene in which the body of Chaplian Mychal F. Judge was found. Chaplain Judge, a Franciscan friar, dedicated his life to serving firefighters who constantly faced danger and death. Father Judge was a joyous and muched loved person. He was an inspiration to firefighters regardless of their individual religious beliefs. When a rescue team discovered his body, they immediately put it on a stretcher and carried it to the nearest Catholic Church. They lifted his body and placed it on the altar. A prayer he had written and prayed often was found on his body. It read: Lord, take me where You want me to go; Let me meet who You want me to meet; Tell me what You want me to say, and Keep me out of Your way. These sincere and meaningful words have became known as Mychal's Prayer. It is a prayer that all Rotarians are likely to pray. Our membership makes me proud to be an American and Rotarian. Give it one-half the advertising that hate has had, and there will be no more war." Bhichai Rattakul, President, Rotary International wrote in "The Rotarian", September 2002 issue, The anniversary of September 11 should be not only a day or remembrance, but also a day of promise.
