A Great Prayer
Len Dalberg, pinch-hitting for Scott Saunders read this prayer he carries
in his wallet. For those who have ask for it, here it is.
A great prayer
Slow me down, Lord.
Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind.
Steady my hurried pace with the vision of the eternal reach of time.
Give me, amidst the confusion of my day, the calmness of the everlasting
hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles with the soothing music
of the singing streams that live in my memory.
Teach me the art of taking minute vacations…of slowing down to look
at a flower, to chat with a friend, to pat a dog, to read a few lines from
a good book.
Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that
it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil
of life’s enduring values.
Amen.
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
A big Thank You to Tom and Mary Ellen Barnard for hosting the “July”
5th Wednesday. Also, thanks to Walt and Kay Alves for BBQing for
us. Roger gets a “tip-of-the-hat” for organizing the event.
Fun was had by all and we were thoroughly entertained by the versatile
Johnathan Wild. He performed throughout the event singing Country
Western to Show Tunes. Johnathan is quite an entertainer
and you missed a great performance and event if you didn’t attend.
Let’s do it again next year.
My apology to anyone who may have thought the weekly e-mail story was
a little off color (it was borderline). I am open to anyone’s submission
for a good weekly joke.
Membership is important and thanks to Leon Roeser and Dick Brown for
attending the membership seminar.
I believe the Poverty Program was excellent and it makes me proud to
know that our club’s and my personal contributions to the Rotary Foundation
help. It is a horrific problem. I would appreciate it if someone
could represent our club at the upcoming seminar. Maybe there is
more we can do.
Your President, Butch.
Why is Membership Important?
Every new Rotarian brings a range of personal and professional resources
and knowledge that can greatly strengthen our club’s ability to serve throughout
our community and the world.
Just a Thought

The more luck I seem to have.”
