MORE FROM MOIR On Thursday morning at 7:00AM, I met with the presidents of Solvang Breakfast, Vandenberg Village and Lompoc Evening at the Budget Café in Lompoc. We discussed the new Rotary program "Treasures of Your Community." This program honors a member of your community that has made a significant impact on our Valley at least one year. More on this later..... I'll be looking for a chairman for this project. Those of you who missed Wednesday's meeting will be interested in knowing that Deepa WiIlingham and Bob Hinnrichs, will be traveling to Mexico to participate in a program initiated by Jeff Cotter. Jeff is a Vice President of a group headquartered in Oregon that is dedicated to humanitarian efforts in under-developed countries. Congratulations Jeff on your unceasing dedication to the work that God has bestowed on your heart! I hope all of you will be attending our Christmas party! I will be bringing some of my grandchildren and my great-grandchild, Olivia. Lew Moniot Dies: A long time member of the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary Club, Lew Moniot, died on Monday, November 26th. He joined our club in the early 60's and served as president in 1975-76. Lew owned Moniot Electric. Though his first truck was red in color, all the followed were white. Lew was a most friendly Rotarian, a man who enjoyed life and Rotary. We will miss him and his laugh! The sympathies of our club are extended to his wife of 51 years, Margaret, sons Mark and Donlon, daughters Jeanine and Denise and 10 grandchildren. Memorial gilts may be given to the Vikings or to our own S.Y.V. Rotary Foundation. Rotary Meets During the Holidays There will be a Rotary meeting on Wednesday, December 26th and on Wednesday, January 2nd at the usual time of 12: 10PM. An Omission The name of Paul Hanberg was inadvertantly left off the names of Rotarians who participated in the hospital Radiothon on October 28. Paul has been a faithful participant for many years. Our apologies! Resignation John Feeley has resigned from our club because of a work schedule making it difficult to attend meetings. Christmas Party!!! Bring your children and grandchildren to Rotary Wednesday, December 19th at 12:10PM. Santa Claus will be taking time out of his busy Christmas schedule to be our special guest. You and your guests will also be able to enjoy good food and singing! Santa needs our help,so please be sure to bring a wrapped gift for each of the children you bring and place them under the tree. |
